Can you imagine that you’re a group of people who first lies, makes up and manipulates a lot of their deep medical verdicts through, then forbids everyone from talking with you, and then sets out to conduct the hyperimportant experiments they thought up themselves, then tasked themselves with and now are going to be executed, while giving themselves well over a decade to get that horror through.
And to make really sure that nothing gets uncovered they make sure you stay permanently ill; in real life such as with sports they had both Murricans (I presume) and Taiwanese for that job. Noise torture was the easiest, right? If I’d go to the gym for too many days then you’d have a Murrican slamming metal on metal next to me and some locals throwing dumbells on the floor above me.
Anything, and anything, to not be uncovered and get more hyperimportant experiments and torture in, all for the sake of everyone’s well-being.
Imagine that the few people who did do an attempt at talking normally were all without exception completely flabbergasted. This was not what they were told and were expecting.
