Singalong (一)

I learned a new song! It’s truly fairly new. A banger from the stone age. A true classic. I didn’t expect to learn that one in my old days, but I mean who cares. Also, it really was the easiest of them all.

I mellowed down a lot. Twenty years ago I would just have laughed. Now some people will probably say:

“You call that mellowing down?”

And then I’ll reply with: “I come from the place where they told a ten year old after a car drove into him to stop whining, start walking normally and refused to send him to a hospital when he had a broken leg, then when removing the first cask two weeks later cut through his ankle, and then essentially lied about how to get home as well.”

(My dad worked at a hospital for fourty years, so it wasn’t too complicated to get in anyway. Normally you have to go to a community doctor but this freak refused to send me there. Anyway I already wrote that down.)

Also, I’m really getting old. I think you just get too tired at some point.

The level is exactly right: Supersimple very colloquial.

The first time I went to China (Macao it actually was, but anyway) I was surprised at how easy the news there is. It was the first time I thought my Chinese wasn’t too bad.

So actually today I’m gonna ramble a bit about 了. Or liǎo. Or le. I’m 100% sure no one has officially written this down before, because I’m pretty sure no one dares to do so. But who knows, right. Maybe in some obscure department in some obscure corner of the world someone has. Or just using other examples of course.

But it’s quite interesting, and a good change of topic as well I think. I’ve been rambling about darkness a bit too long now I think. Whining about a word in Chinese is something different, right.

I’m a bit tired. I’ll write the second part down tomorrow. I also still need to cut my nails.
